Nobody lives forever,
but our legacies will.
You need to discuss your estate and its future beyond you, regardless of how awkward or difficult that may seem. Someday, everything you’ve built will belong to someone else. Don’t you want to pick who that is? You’ve worked too hard to let others decide who gets what and how. Your family certainly deserves better than a mess of accounts, paperwork, and vague instructions.

Don’t you want to pick who that is? You’ve worked too hard to let others decide who gets what and how. When your estate isn’t in order when you check out:
- Your family is left to figure it out without all that knowledge you kept to yourself.
- The state steps in and helps (which isn’t always a bad thing).
- Money that could have been protected is now exposed to needless taxes and expenses.
- Family members argue over what you would do if you were here. Strained relationships are often the result.
- Time and money are wasted (either before you pass via healthcare expenses or after due to poor planning).

Q. Is a will a good idea for me?
A. We’re not sure. We don’t know you. Sometimes a will is a helpful tool, and sometimes it’s unnecessary. Give us a call, and we can discuss.
Q. How about a healthcare proxy?
A. A healthcare proxy is a good idea for most everyone with close relationships that may be involved in an emergency. This is inexpensive to setup, so you’re risking far more than you save by avoiding this. Your family will wish you had one if you’re ever unresponsive.
Q. What if I become disabled?
A. We hope this never happens to you. If it does, a solid estate plan setup in advance will consider this eventuality and protect you and your family for the road ahead.
Q. How about a power of attorney?
A. This can be a powerful tool in the hands of the right person. Most people should have a durable power of attorney. Unless you know you’re never going to become disabled or incapacitated.
Q. I’m not rich, why do I need an estate plan?
A. Unless you have no assets and no family and plan on donating your body to science (which you need documentation to do, actually), you have an estate. It’s not about how much there is. It’s about what happens with all the loose ends you leave for those you love.
Q. Should I rely on the “No Plan” estate plan?
A. Everyone in NYS technically has an estate plan. It’s called the New York State Intestacy Law. That might be exactly what you want and need, but unless you call us to chat about it, you won’t know until it’s too late. For most everyone, having an estate plan is a good idea.
Take it from our clients:
“Mr. Vallone helped me through one of thee most terrifying experiences of my life. He kept me well informed the entire time and never ever set false expectations — Honestly, I would refer anyone that experiences a DWI to him because he was extremely well versed, personable and stayed with me until the very end and was just absolutely amazing. There are not enough good things to say about this law firm.”
